Emergency Fire Starter Pyrotechnic Formula

Pyrotechnic formula for creating a fire starter composition that is great for emergency fire starting.

Materials Needed Put about an ounce of this fire starter mixture underneath a pile of twigs and branches and put a few drops of glycerin on top of it. Stand back and in about 40 seconds the fire starter will burst into flames and set the twigs and branches on fire. Carry this fire starter composition in a Ziploc bag with a first aid kit. Parts by weight, keep dry and separate from glycerin.

Emergency Fire Starter Composition
Aluminum, 40-270 mesh 20
Magnesium, 3-10 mesh 25
Magnesium, 10-60 mesh 40
Iron oxide, red 40
Potassium permanganate 125
Glycerin (keep separate)
